The state of his character is a very important point. You may think that if one has even a speck of intellect, would never indulge in such nonsense. What was his matter? I have searched it, in his (Mirza Ghulam Qadiani) books, and then in medicine & organic (Tib) medicine books.
In book Seerat-ul-Mahdi, author name Mirza Ghulam Qadiani’s own son, Mirza Bashir Ahmad, Vol 2 p. 55, published in Qadian Dar-ul-Aman, Dec1927.
Mirza Bashir Ahmad writes that, “Dr. Mir Muhammad Ismail narrated that ,
“I had listened this from Hazrat Sahib ( Mirza Sahib ) several times, that he ( Mirza Qadiani ) had a disease called hysteria. A condition where women experiences fit, limbs become rigid, they faint, they scream, and say, ‘ A demon has come , it is holding and eating me.’”
“Another doctor stated that, sometimes Hazrat Sahib ( Mirza Qadiani ) suffered from the condition called Me’raq.”
Me’raq refers to the melancholia, a person suffers from this become mad, swears, turn red, loses control, and foam comes out of mouth. This is also considered a miracle.
He wrote, “This happened because you ( Mirza Ghulam Qadiani ) engaged in intense mental exertion.”
Further, in the same book, Seerat-ul-Mahdi, Vol1, p. 716 Bashir Ahmad writes:
“My mother said that, Hazrat Masih Maud ( Mirza Ghulam Qadiani ) first experienced a hysteria attack when his son, Bashir Ahmad passed away. He was sleeping when he suddenly woke up with a jolt and his condition deteriorated. After sometimes, during prayers, he experienced another attack and said, ‘ I saw something dark rising, ascending to sky.’ Then he screamed and fell unconscious, and she said, after that, he began experiencing regular seizures.”
Later, someone asked Mirza Sahib, Sethi Ghulam Nabi narrated in Sirat Al Mahdi Vol 3, p. 304,
“ Your son has developed Me’raq.” The son, Bashir Ahmad, said to him, “ Father, I have developed Me’raq, melancholia. What should we do?” Hazrat Sahib replied, “ Son, it’s okay; you have it, and I have it too.” He further said, ( God forbid! ) All prophets have Me’raq.”
I researched & studied persian medical books including Akseer-e-Azam (p. 109), Sharah-ul-Asbab wal Elaajat Alamaat Amraaz-ur-Raas Nafees, Noel Kishor Lucknow’s Sharh al-Sabab, Tanz ul Elaj, Makhzan Hikmat, Kaleed Maktab, Tashkees Amraaz, Doc Ghulam Gillani’s Maghz Hikmat also studied Kanzul Elaaj. I’ve mentioned the references in my books. In these books it is mentioned that, the symptoms of melancholia and Me’raq are if someone is dull-minded, they speak absurd things. But if someone is intelligent suffer from Me’raq, he begin to claim miracles and prophethood.
Another book stated that, the condition becomes so severe, ( Vol I, Page 70, Sharah-ul-Asbab )
Sometimes, they think of themselves as angels, sometimes prophets and sometimes even as God. They claim to possess divine knowledge, think of themselves as kings, and perceive ordinary events as miracles.”
I have provided all the references. Further in another reference, it is mentioned: When he ( Mirza Ghulam Qadiani ) used to have a seizure, he narrated that,
“ It sometimes started from above and sometimes from below.”
Reference from Mujaddid-e-Azam by Dr. Basharat Ahmad ( Vol II, pg. 8-900).
It is stated in Ziqad 1359, Dec 1940 that, “ Hazrat Sahib ( Mirza Ghulam Qadiani ) experienced two types of seizures:
The first type started from the top of the head, causing dizziness, suffocation, cold extremities , and a weak pulse. Resulting in Unconsciousness from top to bottom. Sometimes the seizure began from below, he would urinate excessively , and sometimes diarrhea would accompany it.
Leaving both front and back passages in a continuous state of flow.
” When asked,” What is this upper and lower seizure? What is this two-sided seizure?” Mirza Ghulam Qadiani replied: Have you not read in Sahih Muslim that Prophet (PBUH) said when Jesus (A.S.) will descend, he will be wearing two yellow robes; one above and one below? Those yellow robes are metaphor for my seizures.”
