In the Tharparkar district, there was an elderly blacksmith named Barkat Ali who worked as a metalworker. One day, a follower of the Mirza sect came to him and immediately started preaching for him to believe that Mirza Qadiani was a prophet and to accept his faith. The blacksmith was busy sharpening the blade of an axe he had made by hand. As long as the follower spoke, the blacksmith continued his work. Once the blade was sharp, he suddenly stood up, placed the axe on the follower’s neck, and said: “Say it! Mirza Qadiani was unfaithful and a liar, and all that stuff.” Whatever the blacksmith said, the follower repeated back to him, kind of confessing. It was as if the blacksmith had made the follower confess. Once the blacksmith was satisfied, he handed the same axe to the follower and said, “Now place the axe on my neck and tell me to insult the dignity of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). I swear by Allah! I would rather be torn to pieces than even think of insulting my beloved Prophet.”
